DROWNING POOL Let Cremated Bodies Hit The Floor
July 24, 2002DROWNING POOL frontman Dave Williams recently recounted a bizarre incident the band experienced when it appeared on the second stage of Ozzfest last year.
"Ozzfest last year we were signing autographs at a signing and this lady came up with a zip-loc bag full of this white powder, and we were all going, 'Uh maybe you shouldn't have that out like that. It's illegal,' Dave recalled to Launch. "She goes, 'No this is my boyfriend. He was a big DROWNING POOL fan and he died and he was cremated,' and we went, 'OK....?' 'I want you to spread his ashes over the crowd when you sing 'Bodies'. That was his favorite song.' And we went, 'OK.' Of course, we didn't, because you know you can't... 'Don't worry this is just a dead guy.'"
"So we had him on the bus for a couple of days and people were like, 'What is that?' It was just eerie. So we pulled over one day, I think we were in Denver, and just kind of had a little...It was the most bizarre thing. We all get out of the bus, we made everybody get up, walk outside. We spread him out and we were like, 'God, please let this guy rest.' We didn't know what to say (laughs). And then we all went, 'Let the bodies hit the floor.' OK, back on the bus, [sound effect], gone. It was that quick."
